Good evening, Eagle families. This is your principal, Ms. Palmer, with announcements for the week of October 7th through October 11th.
Please join us for our PTO meeting on Monday, October 7th, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center. We will discuss upcoming events at GW Carver, fundraisers, the selection of PTO officers, and ways to support all of our Eagles.
This is just a reminder that parents and guardians are welcome to walk students to class. Teachers and students have been working on establishing morning routines and procedures. If you are interested in observing your child or setting up a conference, please schedule a time with your child's teacher outside of the morning arrival times. We have asked older siblings to report to class to reduce hallway traffic and ensure all Eagles are in their correct location.
Our fourth graders will visit different Town of Tarboro facilities on Thursday, October 10th, and our kindergartners will visit Dean's Farm on Friday, October 11th. We know both grade levels will have fun learning outside of the building.
The fourth—and fifth-grade chorus is still selling Butter Braid Pastries until Friday, October 11th. Please consider supporting our chorus members.
We look forward to seeing all of our Eagles on Monday morning. Soar High, Eagles!

Thank you to Mrs. McEwen and the third-grade team for providing the opportunity for a Servant Leadership experience. Our third graders collected items for the victims of Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina. With the help of Webb's Chapel Church, these items will be sent to those in need.

G.W. Carver's 4th and 5th-grade chorus is selling Butter Braids pastries to assist with our spring field trip to Busch Garden this year. The Butter Braids fundraiser will run from September 30 to October 11.
If you've never had one, check out the website www.butterbraid.com to see all the different flavors. These would make great Christmas gifts or even a delicious holiday breakfast for Thanksgiving or Christmas. They are $17 each, and you can purchase online. Just use this link (https://store.myfundraisingplace.com/b387c8eb-c084-4bed-a5fd-0b5f31e86d16) and search for a student's name (or Kerrie Clayton if you don't want to choose a student). We appreciate your support!

Good evening, Eagle family. This is your principal, Ms. Palmer, with announcements for the week of September 30th through October 4th.
We hope that you and your loved ones are safe following Hurricane Helene. If you need any support—whether related to your safety, property, or even emotional well-being—don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help in any way we can.
All Candyman fundraiser money must be turned in by Monday, September 30th. If you have not turned in your student's money, please do so by tomorrow. We want to ensure everything is turned in for our Main Event in October.
On Tuesday, October 1st, our kindergarten students will have Independence Day. We ask parents to allow students to walk to class on their own or be dropped off at the door. Students will begin their own morning routines independently. The kindergarten teachers will be sending their newsletter home tomorrow with more details.
Our 4th and 5th-grade chorus is selling Butter Braid Pastries to benefit our spring field trip to a music festival at Busch Gardens. They are $17 each and would make great Christmas gifts or a delicious holiday breakfast! Please see a chorus student or Ms. Clayton for more information. Online orders may be placed using this link shared on Monday's Facebook post. Just select the student you'd like to support, and they will deliver it to you in November.
On Wednesday, October 2nd, we will participate in Walk N' Roll to School. This is not bike week; most of our students will be walking. At 9:35 a.m., PreK, kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-graders will meet at the playground to walk. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will begin their walk at 10:35 a.m. Walk N' Roll to School supports our goal of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally, while reinforcing road safety guidelines.
We look forward to seeing all of our Eagles on Monday morning. Soar High, Eagles!

Good evening, Eagle families!

Families who ride Bus 403, your bus will be running a bit late today! We have had to move to Bus 310 to ensure a safe ride home. I will update you when the bus is on the road.

On Wednesday, 9/25, we will have See You at the Pole, a global day of student-led prayer, beginning at 7:15 a.m., and our Annual Title 1 Literacy Night, where parents learn about G.W. Carver's data from last year and literacy strategies to use at home, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The student-parent handbooks should have come home last week or will go home on Tuesday. Please sign and return only page 3 of the handbook. We are excited to see our Eagles back to school on Tuesday, 9/24. Soar High, Eagles!

Please join us on Wednesday, September 25th, from 6:00-7:00 pm for our annual Title 1 night. This year's theme is "Muffins in the Moonlight." While parents learn about G.W. Carver's data results from last school year and our plan for Title 1 funds in the gym, students will be with grade-level teachers listening to stories and eating muffins in their pajamas! Parents will then head to classrooms to learn specific literacy strategies to support their students at home. We hope to see you on the 25th. Soar high, Eagles!

Good evening, Carver families. This is a reminder that tomorrow, September 19, is Fall Picture Day. You may preorder pictures. If you do not know your child's student number, you may email Amanda at adavis@ecps.us or wait to receive an email from Lifetouch. Most students in grades 3-5 should know their student number; it is their Chromebook password. We are excited to see everyone in their picture best tomorrow. Soar High, Eagles!

Good afternoon, Carver families.
Due to the potential weather and out of an abundance of caution, all after-school activities for Monday, September 16th, including our Monday chorus practice, are canceled. Thank you for understanding. We will share any updated weather-related news as soon as it is shared.

Good evening, Eagle families. This is your principal, Ms. Palmer, with updates for the week of September 16th through September 20th. Our Fall Picture Day will be Thursday, September 19th. Students should have brought home an information sheet with them this past week. Please get in touch with your child's teacher or the front office if you have any questions. Progress reports are scheduled to go home on Friday, September 20th. Our new student information system is here! Download the Campus Parent app for real-time access to your child’s grades, attendance, assignments, and more. Please see our Facebook post from yesterday with more details. We are still troubleshooting issues with our ECPS app and Rooms; we hope to send out the last few class letters this week. If you are not connected to your child's Room, please let the teacher or front office know, and we will contact our district technology department. We hope you had a relaxing weekend and look forward to seeing everyone Monday morning. Soar high, Eagles!

G.W. Carver's Fall Picture Day is scheduled for Thursday, September 19. Students should have brought home an information flyer this last week. We can't wait to see our Eagles picture ready on Thursday! 🦅

Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 25, for See You at the Pole.

Good evening, Eagle families,
This is Ms. Palmer, your principal. I wanted to inform you that this morning, we conducted a scheduled lockdown drill at our school. This drill is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff in the event of an emergency.
During the drill, students practiced lockdown procedures, including how to remain calm and quiet and follow instructions from teachers and staff. I’m pleased to share that the drill went smoothly, and students demonstrated great responsibility and cooperation.
Please rest assured that these drills are routine and conducted to ensure that everyone is well-prepared in case of a real emergency. If you have any questions or would like more information about our safety protocols, feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our school a safe environment.

Candy Man is Back!
GW Carver has officially kicked off our Fall Candy Man Fundraiser! The Candy Man Fall Fundraiser is open from Wednesday, September 11th through Tuesday, September 24th. Scholars should have brought home fundraiser information today.
We encourage all families to consider supporting the Fall Fundraiser. School fundraisers help us provide the resources needed to make teaching and learning engaging, rigorous, and fun!
There are incentives for our top sellers, but whether you support a small or a large amount, every little bit helps.
Thank you in advance for supporting our Eagles at G.W. Carver's Fall Candy Man Fundraiser.

Good evening, Eagle families, This is your principal, Ms. Palmer, with updates for the week of September 9-September 13. On Monday, September 9th, we will have our first 4th and 5th grade chorus practice. Pick-up time is at 4 p.m. 4th graders should be picked up in the K-1 loop, and 5th graders should be picked up in the front parking lot. The PTO will host its first meeting of the school year on Monday starting at 6 p.m. in the media center. They will discuss upcoming school events and elect new PTO officers. Third-grade scholars will take the Beginning of Grade (BOG) exam on Tuesday, September 10th. Scholars should not stress or worry. The BOG is simply a test to show us where our scholars are regarding their Reading proficiency and to provide data that will help us plan our Reading instruction, interventions, and enrichment moving forward. Please ensure your 3rd-grade scholar gets a good night's rest and has a calm morning in preparation for the BOG on Tuesday. The annual Candy Man Fundraiser kicks off on Wednesday, Sept. 11th, and will run through Friday, Sept. 24th. Your scholar will bring home all the information about the fundraiser, ways to place orders, and incentives on Wednesday. Please ask your scholar for that information when they get home on Wednesday. We appreciate everyone who plans to support our fundraiser. School fundraisers support continued programming, supplies, and resources at G.W. Carver. We look forward to an action-packed third week of school, Soar High Eagles!
